Our Story
BackAlley Collective is a Toronto-based photography studio founded and directed by Jack Herman. Built on the philosophy of “Culture curated; brands elevated”, the studio merges artistic vision with strategic storytelling to create imagery that is both culturally relevant and commercially powerful.
Specializing in conceptual, fine art, commercial, urban, product, and portrait photography, BackAlley Collective produces work that balances realism with intention. Each project is crafted with a distinctive point of view—whether capturing the authenticity of urban spaces, shaping a brand’s visual identity, or creating bold fine art compositions.
The studio offers limited edition fine art prints, available for collectors and interior spaces seeking impactful visual statements. Commissioned projects are welcomed, with custom creative direction tailored to individuals, brands, and collaborative ventures.
In addition to client work, BackAlley Collective is committed to education and mentorship. We offer photography classes and tutorials designed to support emerging and developing photographers in refining their technical skills and artistic voice.
